			<title>PTA Committee: Walk of Fame Bricks</title>
			<description>This chair is responsible for managing the Walk of Fame personally engraved bricks.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Duties:&lt;/span&gt; Update the Brick Order flier at the beginning of the year with the correct contact info. (See the &lt;a href=&quot;/en/cms/?11&quot;&gt;online Filing Cabinet &lt;/a&gt;for a copy of the form.) Make copies for both offices and upload the new document to the web site. Be sure there is a flier in the first day of school packet. Market the program through fliers, posters and newsletter items. Collect orders for bricks during the fall semester. In the Spring, send a list of the brick orders to the production company and ask them to send the completed bricks to the installation company. Ensure installation is complete and all bricks are represented.&lt;br&gt;

			<title>PTA Committee: Grade Level Rep</title>
			<description>This is a new position for 2007-2008 created to facilitate communication among our parents, students and faculty. The concept assumes that each grade level rep can bring news about their grade level to the school and round up volunteers for grade-specific activities. Duties: Be the point person for your grade level. Build a list of names, phone numbers and email addresses of those parents and students who wish to be involved. Talk with the grade level teachers on how the PTA can help. End of Year Picnics -- In May, the PTA sponsors EOY picnics for the students. Each grade level rep will work with the parents in their school -- middle or upper -- to ensure food is covered. We usually do hot dogs, chips, drink and sno-cones. The Honor Society was helpful in 2006-2007 in setup, serving and cleanup. Eighth Grade Dance -- You will need your list of parents for producing the eighth grade dance at the end of the year. Maintain the planters along the front side of the school. This is a good group of kids to pull from as they must complete a large, permanent project to achieve this award.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Another project given as an Eagle Scout project is moving the gazebo and replanting the wildflower garden at the end of the concrete path along the North parking lot.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;Talk to Carolyn Anshus about how much the district will do -- and pay for. The beds around the school entrances need some massive work on replanting. The district will supply as much mulch as needed at no cost. 			<description>The Book Fair is an annual event that serves two purposes: get books in the hands of the students and earn credits toward books for the library.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Duties&lt;/span&gt;: Schedule the Book Fair with Pam Butler, Kay Land (the librarian) and the company that will be providing the books. There has been talk of holding two book fairs -- one in the fall as well to address the school reading lists. In 2007, we used Southwest Book Company with great success. This year we are not putting out any &quot;stuff&quot; -- erasers, pencils, bookmarks, etc. Even though the profit margin is high, these walk away and take the focus away from the actual books. When you order, be sure to tell them you want very few children's books, mainly middle-school and high-school, and adult books -- for the teachers and parents. 			<title>PTA Committee: Carnival</title>
			<description>The Carnival is part of our big Spring community event -- Garage Sale/Carnival/Chili Cook-off. This is a big family/community affair. It is also a fundraiser for various school groups. The PTA does not necessarily make any money but facilitates the venue for other groups to make money.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Duties&lt;/span&gt;: Organize, promote and manage the carnival. Help teachers determine auction basket themes and collect items. Help grade levels and clubs with booth ideas and procurement of any rentals such as a dunking booth or cotton candy machine. Determine ticket prices and man the ticket booth during the carnival. Lay out a map of the carnival booths and remind teachers to get volunteers to sign up for shifts. Promote the event through postcards, flyers, the web site, the school marquee and neighborhood signs. Setup before and cleanup after the carnival. Count tickets for each group and reimburse them for their share of the proceeds.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-weight: bold;&quot;&gt;Notes&lt;/span&gt;: Baskets: we have a standard set of themes for the teachers to use. They can deviate from the list if they want. Booths: we have a list of ideas from previous years for the groups to choose from. Again, they can come up with new ideas as they wish. Each group is responsible for coordinating and running their own booth. We can help with the planning and rental of items but it is up to them to set it up and man it throughout the event.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;This job involves managing a lot of people. The more you get to run an area, the easier it will be. Work closely with the garage sale coordinator and chili cook-off chair. All grade levels get a free garage sale booth and may choose not to do a carnival booth also. The chili cook-off is a senior class fundraiser.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;All carnival booths, including food, will collect tickets for payment. No cash will be accepted. Each booth will have a collection box for their tickets. 			<description>&lt;p&gt;The purpose of the PTA at Westchester is to provide services for our school and experiences for our children. This comes in many different forms -- some measurable (as determined by dollars spent) and others intangible, such as parent involvement and volunteer hours.&lt;/p&gt;
