This committee keeps the campus looking nice through ongoing maintenance and special projects.
Duties: Keep the marquee bed clean and fresh. Maintain the planters along the front side of the school. Walk the campus to determine where improvements can be made.
Notes: In 2007, we had a mom this year work with a group of kids, meeting once a month, to maintain the marquee bed. We had another individual tackle the planters. The big project this year was adding planters and benches to the middle school courtyard. This project is being completed with a WAIS student working on his Eagle Scout award. This is a good group of kids to pull from as they must complete a large, permanent project to achieve this award.
Another project given as an Eagle Scout project is moving the gazebo and replanting the wildflower garden at the end of the concrete path along the North parking lot.
Talk to Kathleen Rutland about how much the district will do -- and pay for. The beds around the school entrances need some massive work on replanting. The district will supply as much mulch as needed at no cost. There are also community grants that you can get to help with beautification projects.
